Badging for Gamepad support
To help users identify games that support controllers, Google Play Store
includes a "Gamepad" tag on the app detail pages and a dedicated search filter
for categorical results for games which support controllers. To ensure your app
takes advantage of this, you must explicitly declare support in your app
Manifest. Simply add the following line to your AndroidManifest.xml.
<uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.gamepad" android:required="false"/>
Set the android:required attribute based on whether your game requires a
controller:
- Optional controller support (
android:required="false"): Displays a "Gamepad" capability badge on your Google Play store listing and includes your game in controller search filters. Use this setting when your game supports controllers in addition to other input methods. - Controller required (
android:required="true"): Indicates that your game requires a game controller to play. While settingandroid:required="true"won't restrict your app's distribution, Google Play may display a "Gamepad required" badge on your store listing and warn users that a controller is needed before installation.
