इस दस्तावेज़ में, Play Install Referrer API का इस्तेमाल करने के लिए तकनीकी रेफ़रंस दिया गया है. Play Install Referrer API, मुख्य रूप से AIDL सेवा इंटरफ़ेस है. इसका इस्तेमाल, Java प्रोग्रामर के अलावा अन्य प्रोग्रामर भी करते हैं.

getInstallReferrer() तरीका
यह तरीका, Bundle (टेबल 1 में मैप की गई कुंजी) के ज़रिए भेजे गए दिए गए पैकेज के नाम से जुड़ी, ऐप्लिकेशन इंस्टॉल करने वाले रेफ़रर की जानकारी दिखाता है. Google Play से भेजे गए रिस्पॉन्स Bundle में, रेफ़रल की जानकारी उन फ़ील्ड में सेव की जाती है जिन्हें टेबल 2 में दी गई कुंजियों से मैप किया गया है.
