Actualizaciones a las restricciones de interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK en Android 10

Para asegurar la estabilidad y compatibilidad de las apps, la plataforma comenzó a restringir las interfaces no SDK que tu app puede usar en Android 9 (API nivel 28). Android 10 incluye listas actualizadas de este tipo de interfaces que están basadas en la colaboración con desarrolladores de Android y las pruebas internas más recientes. Nuestro objetivo es asegurarnos de que las alternativas públicas estén disponibles antes de restringir las interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK.

Si no orientarás tu app a Android 10 (nivel de API 29), es posible que algunos de estos cambios no te afecten de inmediato. No obstante, si bien actualmente puedes usar algunas interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK que se incluyen en la lista gris (según el nivel de API objetivo de tu app), el uso de cualquier método o campo que no pertenece al SDK siempre implica un gran riesgo de error para tu app.

Si no sabes con seguridad si tu app usa este tipo de interfaces, puedes probarla para verificar. Si tu app depende de interfaces no SDK, deberías planificar una migración hacia otras alternativas SDK, aunque sabemos que algunas apps tienen casos prácticos válidos para usarlas. Si no puedes encontrar una alternativa al uso de una interfaz ajena al SDK para una función de tu app, deberías solicitar una nueva API pública.

Cambios de nomenclatura de las listas gris claro y gris oscuro

En Android 9 (nivel de API 28), las listas grises quedaron divididas en las dos listas siguientes:

  • Una lista gris claro de interfaces ajenas al SDK que se podrían usar independientemente del nivel de la API de destino
  • Una lista gris oscuro de interfaces ajenas al SDK que no se podrían usar en tu app orientada a un nivel de API 28 o superior

A partir de Android 10, ahora nos referimos a ambas listas como la lista gris. Sin embargo, las interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK en la lista gris que están restringidas por el nivel de API objetivo (anteriormente, la lista gris oscuro) ahora también se clasifican por la versión de SDK de destino máxima en la que se puede usar la interfaz.

Ejemplo

Si una interfaz ajena al SDK era parte de la lista gris oscuro de Android 9 (nivel de API 28), ahora es parte de la lista gris "max-o", en la que "o" representa Oreo o Android 8.1 (nivel de API 27). En este caso, solo podrías usar una interfaz que pertenezca a la lista gris "max-o" si tu app se orienta a Android 8.1 (nivel de API 27) o versiones inferiores.

Del mismo modo, si una interfaz que no pertenece al SDK en la lista gris no estaba restringida en Android Pie, pero ahora lo está en Android 10, se incluirá en la lista gris "max-p", en la que "p" representa Pie o Android 9 (nivel de API 28).

Estos nombres deberían proporcionar más información sobre el nivel de SDK de destino máximo en el que se puede usar una API en la lista gris antes de que la restrinja la plataforma.

Anotaciones de código para interfaces ajenas al SDK

Además de los cambios de nombre de lista, muchas interfaces ajenas al SDK ahora usan las siguientes anotaciones en el código.

Debido a la gran cantidad de interfaces ajenas al SDK que incluye la lista gris restringida para Android 8.1 Oreo (nivel de API 27), muchas de las interfaces de esa lista quedaron sin anotaciones. Aunque estas anotaciones pueden brindar un punto de referencia rápido, debes probar tu app para confirmar que no use interfaces ajenas al SDK.

Como habilitar el acceso a interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK en Android 10

En Android 10, se modificaron los comandos que puedes usar para habilitar el acceso a las interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK. Puedes habilitar el acceso a estas interfaces en los servicios de desarrollo cambiando la política de aplicación de la API. Para ello, usa el siguiente comando de ADB:

    adb shell settings put global hidden_api_policy  1
    

Para restablecer la política de aplicación de la API a la configuración original, usa el siguiente comando:

    adb shell settings delete global hidden_api_policy
    

Estos comandos no requieren un dispositivo con derechos de administrador.

Puedes elegir uno de los siguientes valores de número entero para la política de aplicación de la API:

  • 0: Inhabilita toda la detección de interfaces ajenas al SDK. Si usas este valor de configuración, se inhabilitarán todos los mensajes de registro para el uso de interfaces que no pertenezcan al SDK y no podrás probar tu app con la API de StrictMode. Este ajuste no se recomienda.
  • 1: Habilita el acceso a todas las interfaces ajenas al SDK, pero imprime mensajes de registro con advertencias para el uso de esas interfaces. El uso de este valor de configuración también te permite probar tu app con la API de StrictMode.
  • 2: Inhabilita el uso de interfaces ajenas al SDK que pertenezcan a la lista negra o a una lista gris restringida para tu nivel de API de destino.

Cambios de lista para Android 10

En esta sección, se describen las interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK de la lista gris en Android 9 (nivel de API 28) que ahora están restringidas en Android 10 (nivel de API 29) o que se agregaron al SDK de Android (lista blanca) en Android 10.

En el siguiente cuadro de código, se enumeran todas las interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK de la lista gris en Android 9 (nivel de API 28) que ahora están restringidas en Android 10 (nivel de API 29). Siempre que sea posible, se sugieren API alternativas en un comentario luego del nombre de la interfaz. Se incluyeron falsos positivos de interfaces que pensamos que estarían en uso, pero que en realidad no lo estaban. Cada interfaz ocupa una línea.

Nuestro objetivo es asegurarnos de que las alternativas públicas estén disponibles antes de restringir las interfaces que no pertenecen al SDK. Sabemos que tu app podría tener un caso práctico válido para usar estas interfaces. Si una interfaz que usas actualmente en Android 9 ahora está restringida, deberías solicitar una nueva API pública para esa interfaz.
