Google Play
Google Play

An app or game can't\nbe considered high quality if it doesn't achieve this goal, no matter what else\nit does well.\n\nThe purpose of an app or game should align with the needs of its target\naudience. Apps and games that address unique user needs, or solve problems in\nan original way, increase their potential value to users.\n\nTo build a high-quality app or game, follow these guidelines.\n\n### Content and feature depth\n\nThe amount of content and features in your app has a direct impact on your\nability to deliver value to users. Make sure you understand the needs of your\ntarget audience, support their core use cases, and consider their preferences\nand capabilities. For example, a calculator app for primary school children\nshouldn't have the same feature set as a calculator app for structural\nengineers.\n\nIncreasing the amount of content or features in your app may increase your\nuser value, but this shouldn't come at the cost of cluttered menus,\noutdated content or buggy features.\n\n### Form factors\n\nAndroid offers an increasing\n[array of choices for users beyond mobile](/multidevice). If it\nmakes sense for your title, support multiple form factors to enable users to\nget more from your app or game. For example, imagine a fitness tracker on a\nphone that can sync a user's heart rate from their watch; or imagine a mobile\ngame that users can also play on their PC.\n\n### Marketing assets\n\nThe way that you market your app or game influences users' expectations of its\ncapabilities and informs their decision on whether to install it. Marketing\nassets should accurately reflect your app or game and represent your intended\naudience and use cases. Any discrepancy between what you promise and what you\ndeliver can damage your core value and hurt your user metrics.\n\n### User metrics\n\nUser metrics such as ratings, engagement, and retention metrics, are a direct\nway to evaluate whether you're delivering value to users. By comparing these\nmetrics with those of other apps, you can assess how the core value of your app\nor game compares with others that target similar or related user needs.\n\nAcquisition metrics are not generally considered to be a good measure of core\nvalue, as they can be influenced by marketing spend and other factors that\naren't related to the capabilities of your app.\n\nGoogle Play guidelines\n----------------------\n\nIf you distribute on Google Play, follow these additional core-value guidelines.\n\n### Tools to monitor and improve core value\n\nUse [Play Console](https://play.google.com/console/about/) to optimize and\nlocalize your\n[store assets](https://play.google.com/console/about/storelistings/),\nmonitor your [user metrics](https://play.google.com/console/about/stats/),\nand compare with\n[your peers](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/10771707).\n\nMaking improvements to your app that improve your [ratings and reviews](https://play.google.com/console/about/ratings/) is\na great way to improve core value and make your app more attractive to users.\n\n### Discovery and featuring\n\nGoogle Play considers [all aspects of core value](https://g.co/play/featuring), including your Play\nmarketing assets and user metrics, when evaluating what titles to promote and\nwhere.\n\nPlay also uses user metrics to evaluate the quality of your app. We consider\nmany [user engagement metrics](/quality/core-value/user-metrics) including uninstalls and active users."]]
